The tigernut, or chufa, is a superfood grown in Alboraia near Valencia, the beautiful Spanish city along the Mediterranean, and in parts of North Africa. Tigernuts (cyperus esculentus) are not actually a nut but rather a tuber containing many natural health benefits. Tiger nuts are nut-free and a perfect alternative for those with nut allergies with all the benefits of nuts and more! Enjoy tigernuts straight out of the bag as crunchy and chewy fibre-rich munch. It can also be soaked overnight for even more flavour.
Our tigernuts are grown in the ground in March-April and harvested in November-December, then naturally sun dried. They’re vacuum-sealed before shipment from Valencia in Spain to Singapore.
